BANGOR–The Bangor swim and dive team’s five seniors, all of whom are on the girls’ team, are about to finish their last high school swim season.
Head Coach Cynthia Howard spoke about her team’s persistence, despite their size.
“I’m looking for my team to get their best times that they’ve had all season,” said Howard. “It’s a good group of girls. They’ve worked really, really hard. It’s a smaller team than I normally have, but I think we’ll do the best we can at States.”
Senior Captains Kate Busko and Zoey Smith commented on the Bangor swim program.
“It’s definitely taught me that it’s a commitment thing. And it takes up a lot of your time,” Smith said. “It’s shown me a lot of growth. And I’m definitely going to miss the friendships that I’ve made.”
Busko added, “I’ve learned how to be part of a team. I’m really going to miss cheering for my teammates during the races. As a swimmer, I’ve gotten faster and learned how to do butterfly. I’m really going to miss the friends that I’ve made here.”
Swimmers Cossandra Johnson, Aydan Rudolph, and Zina Van Amerongen will graduate this year along with Busko and Smith.
